Alison graduated with a Distinction in Personal Performance Coaching from The Coaching Academy in the UK in 2011 and is a member of the ICF (International Coach Federation).

As well as having had a great deal of life experience and many inspiring mentors over the years, Alison has extensively studied personal development, alternative therapies and coaching practices as these are subjects that deeply interest her.

Further Background

Having lived on the Cote d’Azur for 13 years, working in yachting as well as senior sales and marketing positions for both large international organisations and small start up businesses, Alison was made redundant from her last marketing post at the start of the financial crisis in 2009. This seemingly unhappy event turned out to be the best thing that could have ever happened to her!

The unexpected freedom from what had previously been a highly stressful profession gave Alison the time and space to really step back and take a long hard look at her life. In the course of examining what made her truly happy and what she actually liked doing, Alison came to the realisation that what she enjoyed most was helping people.

Several potential professions presented themselves: counselling, teaching, social work and other similar ideas - and then, like a bolt out of the blue - coaching. As soon as she went along to the initial coaching discovery weekend hosted by the Coaching Academy in the UK, Alison knew she had found it - her true vocation. Not only was there a deep recognition that this was absolutely what she wanted to do, there was also a strong sense that in many ways this was what she had always been.

And so began Alison’s coaching journey. You can read a little more about her transition to becoming a fully trained coach here: Coach in the Spotlight, Alison Rentoul

Originally from Melbourne, Australia, Alison holds a Bachelor of Arts in English Literature and Philosophy from Melbourne’s Monash University and first trained as an advertising copywriter before moving to London 15 years ago. Her first love was and will always be communication - and coaching is simply the most powerful embodiment of what Alison believes really makes the world go round: understanding ourselves, and understanding others.
